Local Priorities Burglary Concern Update |
I wanted to provide you with an update regarding burglary, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.
On Friday 3rd July 2026 at about 9am, officers from Bellingham and Sydenham SNT arrested a male and a female who were shown wanted for burglary. The pair had targeted a vulnerable victim and stole various items from his address, including money and his phone. The phone and money were recovered by police during the post-arrest search. Both suspects are currently in police custody awaiting interview. We hope for a positive outcome for this, and we hope for custodial sentences for both once this has been referred to the Crown Prosecution Service. Bellingham SNT also contacted Phoenix Housing to change the victim's locks due to numerous keys being found on one of the suspects so the aim there is to prevent any access to the property if the keys got copied. While we will continue to pursue burglars in the area, there are steps you can do to help keep your property safe. Make sure that you:
